Our Programmes

Intro to EA Concepts

The Intro to EA Concepts is for anyone new to EA who wants to spend 2 or 3 hours learning about the core ideas and framework of Effective Altruism.

You can choose between a 3 hour workshop (recommended if you have enough time) or a 2 hour workshop (recommended if you don’t have enough time).

the Introductory seminar Programme

Once you’ve done the Intro to EA Concepts, the Introductory Seminar Program is for those who want to learn more about Effective Altruism and get involved with the community. For those who missed signing up at the beginning of term, we will be running a 4 week version which you can sign up to below! The programme involves weekly reading and discussion supported by an experienced facilitator, giving you the chance to explore your own thoughts and ideas.

The Intro Seminar Programme is best suited for those who are new to EA ideas, but have done the Intro to EA Concepts. If you’re not sure whether you should apply, email us at info@eaoxford.com

the In-Depth seminar Programme

The In-depth Seminar Programme is for those who want to push their knowledge of Effective Altruism even further than in the Intro Seminar Programme. The In-Depth Seminar Programme runs for seven weeks and consists mainly in weekly discussions about a set reading list, but aims to give each group more agency in choosing what topics they want to explore by letting participants select the topic from a list of pre-prepared modules after the first four weeks. We’ll have as many audio options for non-visual readers as we can.

You can find out more about the programme, and our curriculum here.

The in-depth programme is aimed at people who have spent 30+ hours thinking, reading, and talking about ideas relating to Effective Altruism.

This term’s programme will only be conducted in person, though if you’d prefer to engage remotely, you can go through the same content remotely on a 1-1 basis with one of our mentors - sign up for a committee chat to get started, or read more about our mentorship.
