Get Involved

1-1 Chat with the Committee

If you'd like help exploring how to do the most with your skills to improve the world, and what you can be doing now to prepare, one of the ways we've found we can help the most is through one-on-one chats. This is a great way to get a detailed and tailored picture of the EA Oxford community and the range of ideas in EA.

Who is this for?

We recommend meeting with a committee member, whatever your experience, to figure out what to read next and how you can get involved with Effective Altruism Oxford. If you’ve spent some time thinking about EA before but are new to EA Oxford, this is the best way to figure out how to get involved in the local community.

Fellowship

The best way to get involved is to take part in our Introductory Fellowship. The program runs over six weeks, and involves discussion groups about selected topics, dinners with professionals and researchers in relevant areas, and personalised mentoring to help you apply these principles to your life and career.

Who is this for?

Anyone who is new to EA, and willing to commit a couple of hours a week to learning the key insights of the movement could benefit from this.

Workshops

Note our workshops are currently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic but we are working on adapting them to a remote format and you can still express interest below.

Sometimes it’s best to learn in concentrated bursts. To do just that, we offer a Career Workshop and a Concepts Workshop as smaller form replacements for our fellowship programme.

Who is this for?

The Career Workshop is for people who are new to EA and would like to think more about how to do good with their career.

The Concepts Workshop is for people who are looking for a quick overview of the key ideas in Effective Altruism.

To hear about our speaker events, discussion groups, and more, we recommend following us on Facebook or signing up to out mailing list.

Who is this for?

Anyone is welcome to all the events on these platforms but we recommend taking part in a workshop or fellowship to get the most out of discussion groups.
